Leffe beer originated in 1240 at the Notre-Dame de Leffe abbey in Belgium, founded in 1152 by Premonstratensian monks who brewed it as a safer alternative to contaminated water. After centuries of disruptions, including the French Revolution, production was revived in 1952 with brewer Albert Lootvoet. Today, it is a global AB InBev brand.
